Mission statement

The protection of the environment, in particular with regard to waste treatment has gained worldwide acceptance since the end of the 1990s. Political authorities has revised their environmental protection norms and industrial producers and private consumers are putting their efforts into finding solutions to avoid, collect, sort, recover or recycle waste.

The more effort is being put into recycling however, the smaller but the more difficult to treat the non-recyclable rest fraction becomes, thus increasing the need for small to medium size hazardous waste treatment facilities.

The BIC Group designs (BIC Systems), builds (BIC Projects) and offers operational support for- (BIC Services) plant for the thermal destruction of non-recyclable waste.

BIC has been supplying equipment for over 30 years and is amongst very few manufacturers worldwide who have used their own equipment to operate a commercial waste treatment plant (BIC Services, Belgium, certified ISO 9000:2000 and ISO 14001) and have gained extensive operational knowledge.

From the very beginning, we have chosen to limit the variety of products we offer which has enabled us to become a world leader in the field of thermal processing of waste streams and the re-use of the thermal energy released in the process.

It is our goal to remain in the lead of offering small to medium size plant for these applications and to keep improving the performance of our product in the fields of overall environmental impact, user friendliness, capital cost and running cost.

We want to differentiate from our few competitors by offering plant that are composed of proven technology, but tailored to the specific needs in order to ensure maximum operational flexibility.

In line with this logic, we have developed our own counter-current rotary kiln (BIR plant), two very efficient scrubbing options (wet and dry), and have recently completed the scope with a very elegant and cost-effective steam turbine assembly which makes our plant at least energetically self-sufficient, but in many cases synergies can be found with adjacent processes so that the  energetic efficiency can be in excess of 80%.

Of course, our plant are governed by our own automation, supervision and man-machine interfacing system that offers some very powerful yet user-friendly features such as full remote access and SMS alarming.

This is exactly what we want to keep doing: offer small to medium size plant that have nothing to envy towards the multi-billion Dollar Big Brothers yet at a comparable cost per Tonne.
